Obsession of the Week | It’s a 10

On my never-ending quest for silky smooth hair, I’ve found one more product that helps achieve TV commercial-quality hair.  A few weeks ago my friend Chelsea told me about a product that she started using in the hopes of restoring her hair’s healthy shine and sleekness.

So, last time I ventured into Safeway and saw it in the beauty aisle I said to myself, “why not? It’s not like it is going to make my hair look MORE dry.” Well, I’m glad I took the plunge, my hair looks and feels drastically better. So what is this miracle hair product? It’s called “It’s a 10” Miracle Leave-in Plus Keratin.

As it turns out, It’s a 10 has lots of products in their hair care lineup. I haven’t tried any of the other items, but I would definitely suggest the leave-in plus keratin. It couldn’t be simpler — spray it all over your hair after a quick towel dry. I’ve been using it every time I wash my hair for the last week or so and I’m definitely loving the change.

I think one of the greatest aspects of this is the product acts as a heat protectant in addition to nourishing your hair, so I’ve been using just one product (not counting the finishing touch of hairspray) instead of layering on creams, mousse, etc to achieve the look I want during styling.

As for where to purchase this (or any of the It’s a 10 line) I’ve seen it at Safeway, CVS, and Peninsula Beauty, therefore I assume it’s available wherever you normally purchase your hair care products. I believe I paid somewhere around $15 for the smaller bottle (4 oz I think).

If you’ve tried any of the It’s a 10 products, let me know what you think and if I should try any of them!!

A + B

A + B

a couple of weeks ago I took Buddy on his first doggie playdate. it was really MY playdate with my oldest / bestest (it’s totally a word) friend Chelsea. we decided that since we were hanging out we might as well let the mutts do their thing too!

anywhoo, just thought I’d share the picture of Andy (Chelsea’s Briard) and Buddy (my golden retriever) — thus the “A + B” title of this post.

the boys became fast friends and were romping around the yard like THEY had been the ones hanging out since the 4th grade! too funny.

side note, do you see how dwarf-like Buddy looks by comparison to Andy. Briards can be HUGE, but they are such gentle giants.

Fun Finds | Punjammies

Hello blogosphere — hope you’ve all been well! Apologies for the delayed blog post, my parents have been in town and we’ve been having too much fun for me to blog (I know….excuses, excuses).

Tonight, I came across some cute pajama bottoms on Pinterest. Instead of your average shopping site, it lead me to a very interesting story!

You see, these were no ordinary pajamas they were “Punjammies” — the product of a awareness movement called the International Princess Project.  The project was started by Shannon Keith who travelled to India in 2005 and witnessed the all-too-common act of human trafficking.

In an effort to help women and children get out of the terrible conditions to become successful, brave, and confident, Shannon has been helping to “establish self-sustaining enterprises in partnership with indigenous organizations that provide for physical, emotional and spiritual needs of women formerly enslaved in prostitution; AND advocate for women enslaved in prostitution around the world” (from the International Princess Project mission statement).

Now those of you who have visited meganeilers.wordpress.com before know that I am by no means a blogger who regularly posts controversial, bold, or upsetting topics that may concern or offend anyone. That’s just not my style. However, I felt that this was something that was worth sharing with all of you wonderful readers.

Even if you are not interested in buying a pair of PJs, I would highly suggest watching the video on the International Princess Project website.

If you are reading this, take a moment and think of how fortunate you are to have a woman (or even a little girl) in your life who is free, happy, and confident. Let her know how happy you are to have her in your life because if she was born into a different part of the world her whole life could be radically different, and as a result your life would be too.

Obsession of the Week | Dating Rules From My Future Self

Anyone who knows me (or reads my blog regularly) knows how much I absolutely love The Vampire Diaries. Well, the actress who plays Caroline (Candice Accola) is this season’s main character on a new show called “Dating Rules from My Future Self.”

Dating Rules is a web series created by Alloy Entertainment (the same creators of great things like Gossip Girl, The Vampire Diaries, Pretty Little Liars, etc…).  There are two “seasons” of the show, which is comprised of 10-ish minute episodes. I’ve officially watched all of them and am quite anxious for new ones to come out.

The premise is pretty funny — the main character of each season communicates via text and FaceTime with an older version of herself. Grown up versions of the characters provide advice about how to navigate the crazy world of dating.

The first season, the main character was actress Shiri Appleby, who a few people may recognize from the CW show Life Unexpected (another show I loved, that unfortunately met its demise after only 2 seasons).

So far, season 2 has been pretty funny with Candice as the main character.  From her “margarita maker” (a blender) named José, to her problematic addiction to Cheetos, Candice’s character Chloe is simply hilarious.

Overall, Dating Rules from My Future Self definitely has some great humor written into it, particularly because they include some of the comical aspects of living life in the modern age where having “The Jimmy Song” posted on your Facebook wall is thought to be the most humiliating thing that could happen to a 20-something!
