Senioritis

Apologies blogging world, I have had a bad case of senioritis.

My life has been all kinds of crazy these last few weeks and unfortunately my blog has suffered.

Graduation is 8 days away and there will definitely have to be some big changes to my blog with this new transition in my life because my tagline of “college student. coffee addict. hopeless romantic. girly girl. blogger.” won’t be accurate, as I will no longer be a college student. SO CRAZY!!

Anyway, stay tuned for the future of my blog and please keep the comments and resharing up, it means a lot to me!

Despite my hectic life, I have gotten in a few moments of relaxation in, so here’s a picture that will hopefully bring some sunshine and positive thoughts to your world

Fun Find | Top 10 Song Lyrics of 2011

So I’ve been seriously slacking in my blog posting, but school has been insane these last few weeks and finals are starting up this week, so my life has been a little chaotic.  I promise that I do in fact have big blogging plans for when I am done with my study-a-thon, but I found this link of top song lyrics of 2011 through Ryan Seacrest’s Facebook page and couldn’t resist posting it right this minute.

Old School Commercials

This weekend has been 100% homework focused and one of my papers was for a communication criticism class.  While searching for the perfect commercial to analyze I came across some old favorites that I thought I’d share with all of you!

Do you remember this Godfather themed Pepsi ad? I used to think it was the funniest thing on TV. Kapeesh?!

Fun Finds | Oregon State Football Video

Regardless of where you come from, what schools you attended, or whether or not you truly like sports, almost all of us have some sort of attachment to a certain team for one reason or another.  For many U.S. citizens pro-football, baseball, basketball, etc.. is their choice, but I believe there is something even more special about college teams.

For those of you who have followed my blog for a while, you may remember that I transferred colleges between my sophomore and junior years (a decision that was challenging on so many levels).  My first college was Oregon State University, a Pac-12 school that is very proud of their sports teams.  There was a camaraderie that formed between all the students, parents, and alumni on game days.  Even if you didn’t know the people next to you, the common goal of wanting the Beavs to take the win was enough to create a bond for those few hours in the stands.

Despite the fact that I am a diehard Stanford Cardinal fan (and will be, ’til death do us part), there is a part of me that will forever be an OSU fan too.  When a former Beaver acquaintance of mine posted the following video on Facebook I just couldn’t help but feel that same sense of school pride that I once had while attending classes in Corvallis.  That is why this video is my Fun Find for the week.

As I thought about the combination of powerful words, upbeat music, and images of the players in that video, I realized how sad it is to no longer have that strong sense of school pride on a daily basis. The University of San Diego isn’t exactly known for its teams or school spirit, so that bond that Oregon State alumni hold onto for life, is definitely not something I will be experiencing after graduation from USD.  As much as I enjoy being a Torero, I do miss the OSU family.

So now, tell me…how many of you out there reading this post have some school pride/spirit for a certain college? Did you attend the school or are you simply a  “locavore” when it comes to your sports like I am with Stanford (i.e. liking it because it is the local/regional place you are attached to)?  If you are reading this and are simply a pro-sport follower and don’t understand the love of college sports, why? Leave me some comment love in the comments section below letting me know all about your fave sports teams, experiences, or other inspirational videos!

Bye Bye Beavers

Megan & Dad at OSU Football Game with Benny the Beaver

Today is the last day of classes here at Oregon State for the Spring term (although there are still finals next week). This is so exciting, today is my very last time attending class on this campus, but I am still trying to figure out where I will be in the Fall. It is insane that I have already completed my first two years of college! Graduation from high school seems like yesterday, and yet here I am, about to embark on yet another journey: moving to back California and switching to an entirely new college! I wish today was pretty and warm so I could treasure my last day, but alas (as per typical Oregon) it is wet, cold, and windy–honestly, its June, what the heck?!

Well bloggers, I will be very busy the next two weeks, so I may not get to post much, but please keep the comments rolling, I love to hear what people thing of my blog (p.s. there is a poll in the link bar–it’s only 1 question, it won’t take you long).

“Hail to Old OSU”

OSU, our hats are off to you
Beavers, Beavers, fighters through and through
We’ll root for every man, we’ll cheer for every stand
That’s made for old OSU.
Watch our team go tearing down the field
Men of iron, their strength will never yield.
Hail, hail, hail, hail
Hail to old OSU.

Will it never end?

So I’m doing homework (and have been for almost 5 hours already!) and I am sick and tired of it, so I decided to post a blog entry to see who else was avoiding homework right along with me (or avoiding anything you know you should be doing)! :D Yes, I really am that bad of a procrastinator (although I do always get my stuff done in the nick of time).  Thankfully, I finished my biology portfolio, but very unfortunately I have yet to read any of the assigned book we have for my history class (Murder in Amsterdam) or write the paper that goes along with it–due tomorrow by noon.  Have you read that book? Any insight? I think instead of starting I may do some laundry or go to the gym, maybe reorganize my closet… oh the possibilities of procrastination.  Amazing Race ended so I don’t even have a show to watch tonight to take me away from homework later. Grrr. Will the homework never end? Will summer ever come, I’m ready for the beach and sunshine (see photo)? Going to work is so much better, I get paid to do stuff… and I enjoy it a whole lot more!

Quickie Post

Hello World!

I don’t have much time to write a post because I am running dangerously late for class, but I had to share what I did last night. I went to Oregon State University’s rival school (University of Oregon) and saw a presentation on Human Trafficking. I don’t have much time to talk about it, but in short: human trafficking (often known as prostitution) is a huge problem in the United States. I know that myself and probably many people in the US believe that this is a problem in places like Cambodia and other underdeveloped countries. This is true, but there are over 200,000 people being trafficked in the US alone, so clearly this is a big problem. If you want to learn more or start your own information group, please check out these links.

Hope you find this as inspiring as I did!
